The Switch II: Clockwork

The Switch II: Clockwork Review

The long awaited sequel to the Switch! Includes Book I as Prologue!

"As she looked on, the target unzipped his jumpsuit and pushed it down. His blond companion sauntered over to his desk, and slipped off her pants..."

York is a city of contradictions. Women are hard-pressed for lovers, because lovemaking can be dangerous. The upper city is powered by computers, the underground by steam. And the wealthy don't work for a living, underdwellers do it for them.

But certain underdwellers have a big problem with this arrangement. And so does the time keeper.

Welcome to the Revolution...

596 Switch: The Improbable Journey From The Palouse to Pasadena

596 Switch: The Improbable Journey From The Palouse to Pasadena Review

All-American Washington State quarterback Ryan Leaf, who led the WSU Cougars to a Rose Bowl appearance in 1998, shares the ins and outs of a young man from Montana, attending college with dreams of a pro football career! It covers four years, from the moment Leaf decided to attend Washington State up through the Rose Bowl appearance in 1998. For sports fans generally, it offers an unvarnished look at the world of college athletics, good and bad. The book does not glorify the sport or the WSU Cougar team, but does shed light on the powerful stories, colorful characters and some of the shenanigans behind one of our country s most beloved weekend pastimes.

Switch-Mode Power Converters: Design and Analysis

Switch-Mode Power Converters: Design and Analysis Review

This book introduces an innovative, highly analytical approach to symbolic, closed-form solutions for switched-mode power converter circuits. This is a highly relevant topic to power electronics students and professionals who are involved in the design and analysis of electrical power converters. The author uses extensive equations to explain how solid-state switches convert electrical voltages from one level to another, so that electronic devices (e.g., audio speakers, CD players, DVD players, etc.) can use different voltages more effectively to perform their various functions. Most existing comparable books published as recently as 2002 do not discuss closed-loop operations, nor do they provide either DC closed-loop regulation equations or AC loop gain (stability) formulae. The author Wu, a leading engineer at Lockheed Martin, fills this gap and provides among the first descriptions of how error amplifiers are designed in conjunction with closed-loop bandwidth selection.

BENEFIT TO THE READER:
Readers will gain a mathematically rigorous introduction to numerous, closed-form solutions that are readily applicable to the design and development of various switch-mode power converters.

* Provides symbolic, closed-form solutions for DC and AC studies
* Provides techniques for expressing close-loop operation
* Gives readers the ability to perform closed-loop regulation and sensitivity studies
* Gives readers the ability to design error amplifiers with precision
* Employs the concept of the continuity of states in matrix form
* Gives accelerated time-domain, steady-state studies using Laplace transform
* Gives accelerated time-domain studies using state transition
* Extensive use of matrix, linear algebra, implicit functions, and Jacobian determinants
* Enables the determination of power stage gain that otherwise could not be obtained

The Willow Switch

The Willow Switch Review

The Willow Switch continues the story of the Kikkert family that began with The Doll in McCallaway's Store. The story is told by young Joseph Lawson and takes place mostly on Joseph's great grandfather's farm, which his mother, Valerie, has inherited. Joseph clings to the memory of past summer vacations on the farm learning baseball and other things about life from his beloved Grandpa Joe. But with his grandfather now gone, Joseph's father, Karl, takes out the frustration of his failures by abusing both his wife and son. It is in what was once Joseph's favorite place to be with his grandfather that Karl introduces his son to the willow switch as a form of brutal punishment. Unknown to his mother, Joseph is taken to the tool shed and beaten severely for even the slightest infraction. When Valerie learns of this abuse, it becomes the last straw in a long series of events that have destroyed her marriage, and she files for divorce. Joseph remains bitter toward his mother, fighting against the love that she has always shown him. He is angry with her for putting up with her abusive husband for so long, and angry with himself for not being more like Mark Harrison, one of his peers at school. When his mother meets and falls in love with Jacob Kikkert, Joseph is not sure that he can welcome another man into his and his mother's life, even though he is delighted at the thought of Molly Kikkert, Jacob's spirited and wise-beyond-her-years daughter, becoming his kid sister. Valerie and Jacob's courtship becomes a three family affair as the Harrison family, led by its matriarch, Grandma Annabelle (Annabelle McNealy), becomes involved. After Jacob and Valerie are married, Joseph is sure his worst fears are about to be realized when his new stepfather gives him his knife and tells him to go cut a willow switch and meet him in the tool shed. He soon learns, however, that Jacob Kikkert has an entirely new purpose for this and the many other willow switches that follow as Joseph journeys through adolescence. (Word count - 58,639)

EXCERPT:

Chris was taunted by dreams--both daydreams, and night dreams--of Kaja. Every time he saw her, he wanted to worship her at her feet. He wanted to paint each of her nails, on her cute toes and slender fingers. He wanted to do it while he was dressed in feminine lingerie, like the fire-engine red lace-up sheer lace gown he’d ordered from Frederick’s of Hollywood.

He’d received the Spring Preview catalogue in the mail--presumably to get a Valentine’s gift for a sweetheart--except he didn’t have one, at the moment. He was also so obsessed with a knee-high fishnet stiletto in the catalogue that he’d ordered a pair for himself. The stiletto had studded details and could be laced all the way up in the front.

Chris was hyper stimulated by women in general, and fixated on the female form. He wanted to know what it felt to be one.

What was Kaja’s shoe size? Seven? Eight? He thought he could die a happy young man, if he could see Kaja before him, dressed in nothing but the knee-high lace-up front stiletto boots.

Or if he could be in her shoes, that way, a female prison officer wielding her authority and maintaining law and order using not a baton, but her thigh-high boots...

Flip the Switch, Lose the Weight: Proven Strategies to Fuel Your Metabolism and Burn Fat 24 Hours a Day

Flip the Switch, Lose the Weight: Proven Strategies to Fuel Your Metabolism and Burn Fat 24 Hours a Day Review

Discover how easy it can be to drop those unwanted pounds by flipping the switch that revs up metabolism to maximize fat burning all day long

Could losing weight really be as simple as flipping a switch? Absolutely, says Dr. Robert Cooper, one of America’s leading weight-loss researchers. The trouble with most popular diet-and-exercise programs is that they boot up the metabolic thermostat, or Meta-Stat (an area in the brain that regulates metabolism), for only short spurts. The rest of the time the body is in fat-storing mode. But if our Meta-Stat stays on 24 hours a day, we burn fat constantly—and build energy as well.

In Flip the Switch, Lose the Weight, Dr. Cooper reveals scientifically proven strategies that enable us to turn on our Meta-Stat and maintain optimum metabolism all day long.

This groundbreaking book:

• provides an easy 20-minute exercise plan that gently works the body differently on successive days for maximum fat-burning, energy-generating effect

• allows readers to customize their weight-loss programs based on individual goals and lifestyle preferences

• provides an exclusive "Success Map" for readers to chart their progress

• includes complete meal plans and more than 100 recipes, all designed to fuel the Meta-Stat for maximum fat burning
